If you're going at the kids directly I would go for posters around schools and things. If your targeting the schools and the ymca's I would send some sort of catalogue to them and offer various discounts on their first orders.

I would be targeting the y's and the schools not really the kids.
How do I find all the schools and y's? I do not have a catalog, my line changes so much I did not create one.

Thanks
Denise

Well at first it would be best for you to target schools and the ymca's in one particular area; say no more than 20 schools and 20 ymca's. Then as time goes by increase your potential customers when you can handle orders and deliveries.

If your lines change every time I think it would be best to have a catalogue which changes maybe once a month and have an online catalogue where all your latest stock is available. Then on the catalogue somewhere put a little notice like, "For our latest stock please visit our website at website.com".

Excellent idea regadring the offline and online catalogue, I've seen a number of companies do it who have lots of changed inventory, they keep updating the online catalogue on daily basis, and offline one changes every month or so.

Yeah, I think it's the best way to do it. If your delivering a new catalogue every week it would get annoying and cost alot. However if you deliver one once every few months but have an online one that changes as and when you can't go far wrong!

Depending on what level of school you wish to target.

There is a high rate of success.

If you are going to target the K-7 grade level.

I believe your 'return rate' will be fairly high.

As to how you're going to advertise..

Carnivals, posters, advertisements, walk-ins etc..

There's some great advice in this thread. Karl presented a really good suggestion as to how to start targeting schools and Y's in your area.

You can also go to the main YMCA/YWCA website to get all the addresses of each location.

You need to have all your advertising collateral together so you can send out direct mail.

Thank you
Denise
