How would you promote it? My site www.youtxtme.com gets about 30-40 uniques a day, but I want to see something like low to mid XXX. I've been building up the backlinks, and submmiting them to some directories. Any way I can boost my traffic? How would you promote my kind of website.

hmm lets see,
1- Adwords
2- Buy banners ads on sms related sites, forums. sprintusers.com is one place

3- Continue building links, good SE rankings take time.

once submited to about 80% of this list, you can say you have backlinks :P
i submited mysites first to about 20 directorys, and was waiting for the traffic to come, but that doesn't work to well

why not send a bulk SMS to those who have used your site before. Or partner with another website to share their opt-in lists, then SMS those people.

I didn't mean SMS spamming. If someone signs into an opt-in list it can't be spamming. In South Africa night clubs, cell phone companies, etc use this method to promote new events / products and no one seems to mind.

Do you add a signature to the end of all text messages?

If not, add one saying where the text was sent from.

Yes I added the website link in each sms txt. I think this is a pretty decent way of "word to mouth". Any other ideas?

Come up with something unique for yours.

There's a ton of SMS sites now a days, give your members a reason to chose yours over another one.

I would go into specifics, but why help a competitor?

1. Teen forum advertising
2. Myspace bulletins
3. Word of mouth
4. Signature in every text sent
