Fark classifieds are ... odd. At least, from my experience.
The traffic boost is similar in nature to Slashdot or Digg: tons of new uniques; however, once the advertising campaign is over, the traffic takes a sharp dive.
For me I received a HUGE spike in traffic: nearly 5k more unique visitors in the span of an hour, so I decided to extend the campaign; but, the unique traffic died down in about a week. So, I started a different campaign for some different content on my site and I saw the same spike, with the eventual drop in traffic.
Farks biggest problem is that their users expect (and demand) fresh content on a minute by minute basis -- even from their advertisers. So, you can't just post a classified and let it be: you need to constantly create new content and new advertisements to promote that content.
Also, make sure youi have a CLEAR call to action. Repeat visitors from Fark are few and far between, so you'll want to get as much from those users as you can in that short period of time.
Finally, it helps to have quality content that Fark users will like. Advertising your mothers left nipple will only result in negative comments in the thread, which leads to less clicks.
For what it's worth, you'll probably be happy with it.
