Ok, I've got my site, Find Soccer Cleats.
Now, how do I go about promoting it? I'm thinking so far.. - AdWords (once I get into some Affiliate programs)
- Directory Submission
- SE traffic (my site is pretty optimized for it, heh)
Any help specifically on 2? Or any other tips?
Thanks guys,
Josh

Not sure about directory submission, but here are some other ideas:
Find all the soccer websites that you can, and see if they can link to you. Make a few posts in soccer forums too. Look for people asking questions about cleats, and then link to the appropriate page on your site. Maybe even talk to local sports/soccer shops to see if they have any interest in using your articles. Look for people on myspace with soccer in their list of interests, and tell them about the site.
That's what I've got so far....

How about writing articles around various topics relating to soccer. Create a sig file with links back to your home page and sub page. Then use a service like Article Marketer to submit your article to hundreds of the top directories. Over a period of time you will see your articles in the search engines and you will get traffic from that as well as the article itself.

The problem is the market is too satuarated. There are 100's of much more established websites that sell cleats.

you have to be unique, stand out from your competitors,...write articles and submit them to directories, and start to get links back to your site...

Sponsor a local junior soccer team. I know over here every 2 years or so we used to go out looking for sponsors for our kits. Gain targetted traffic and help kids

Saturation is a term that is often used loosely.
In reality, saturation is seldom a real problem with a well known type of business, product or service, especially with popular or common ‘consumable’ items. In fact, in most cases, competition is actually good for you if you know what you are doing.
It is true, some 'fad-like' (for lack of a better word) programs spike in interest and then sometimes tend to taper off or even fall off the face of the earth.
The key, in this case is to grab a chunk of the market by standing out. You can do this many ways like having better service, offering a more reliable product, saving your customer money, being a smart marketer, and/or offering unique products or at least some products that are not as common - like happy face cleats or cleats that light up or something. Maybe donate cleats, with your logo on them, to a local team (I don’t even know if that is possible, but you get the idea). Then, have the team promote your business in their events. I could see that you could even create a fundraising program with your product.
You really should have a business plan in place. It doesn’t have to be magnificent, just something that you can work off of as a model. Are you going to sell your cleats locally, nationally, or internationally? This question alone, will greatly determine how you market your product.
As far as using a website to supplement or even become the source of the bulk of your business volume, you need to have a content rich site. Get noticed online by registering with search engines. For more information on this got to the SEO threads in this forum. As stated by some others in this discussion, get some good return links. A blog is a good idea.
The most important thing though is to stay focused and steady. Take action daily! Mistakes are valuable so don’t be afraid to make them.
“Those who have not achieved success, simply haven’t made enough mistakes.” - Robert Keowlasky

So far, what I learned from 9 month of net marketing:
Choose one technique, focus (like earnsomecoin said).
For me, what is working:
Articles (for list building and sales)
Blogging
The next step is to master articles, be very good at it, and be able to make tons of sales in a short time.
Advice: Master 1 technique at a time. if after some times, you see some results, that mean that you are on a winner. So Improve it.
If you don't see any results, just drop it.
For article directories, you must absolutely start by submitting your site (you will rank best in the search engines - it's really working -), and... It's really boring!
Some submission sites can do it for you for a fee.
If you are interested, just PM me, and I will write a how to in PDF.

Easier said than done, but I do advise to try this method, over Directory Submission.

I agree with ace11, Start a blog, then post your blog site in all of you other advertizing. But make sure you keep up on your responses and posting to your blog. PM me if you are interested in an auto submitter for e mail marketing and classified internet marketing. I get several hits a day just from those, and the classifieds may work well for your site.

Make sure they are good links and not free for all (ffa) links and of that sort. the word is that search engines are actually penalizing you for links like that. I don't know how true that that is but it makes good sense to have links where people actually find you. There are places that your target market finds value in and where there is lots of possative traffic. These are the best places to get a link back.
