Does anyone do this, i.e. sending an e-mail out to thousands of people?

If so, is it effective?

In my opinion email marketing is one of the best promotion and marketing tool. To profit with email you must: have your own list of opt-in subscribers and then send irresistible sales offers to that list of subscribers.

"The money is in your list!"

Have you heard that before??? It's what most of the online "gurus" say... And, it's absolutely true.

I've used email marketing almost exclusively in the past. In fact, I usually keep separate "niche lists" for each of the products I promote. I've also purchased "solo ads" to the mailing lists of others and have had fair success with that, depending on the list.

Just for sugesstion:

1) Sign up for http://www.getresponse.com/ (the best auto responder on the Internet - great response rate and automated pro features) Make sure to upgrade your account after you join.

2) Buy fresh leads. The only way to use leads with Get Response is to buy their Get Subscribers. These people actually opt in to your ezine and there are no spam complaints. http://www.getsubscribers.com/

My suggesstion:

1) Like montyauto says getresponse is the best auto responder on the internet- and you should sign up for it and upgrade your account.

2) Launch an automated FREE advertising campaign to collect opt-in subscribers from Push Button Leads. I use a service called Push Button Leads to build my opt-in list on auto-pilot. You sign up for a free account, set up an ad for your newsletter and then just forget about it. Push Button Leads runs your ad on some of the highest traffic websites on the Internet to collect subscribers for you automatically!pushbuttonleads.com

Monty,

Some good advice! I've just purchased 200 leads from GetSubscribers for use with my GetResponse auto responder. Have you tried it? I'm hoping (as ever) for great things!

Getting people to opt in to YOUR list is NOT spamming. However the keyword in that sentence is YOUR...if the list that the person signed up for was a third party and they sell those email addresses to you and you add them to your autoresponder list, then you will probably get accused of spamming.

Email marketing done right is very effective. Tracy Monteforte has some great ideas for email marketing, just do a search to see all that is available.

I personally wouldn't use it as nomatter how legitimately you do it people will still mostlikely look at it as spam , hurting your image instead of getting more traffic. That is just my opinion though, so it may work great.

Very often, the cost of creating a solid email list often exceeds the benefits one would derive from the list.

Are they responsive with get response? I'd like to know.

Also, Aweber is seen by the top marketers by the best autoresponder.
