ok im wondering on the best way to get traffic to a forum
i dont need like thousands of regestered users but just like teh forum to acualy get new posts

my first forum was active besause you could post crap
but i made a new forum

any ideas?

submit ur sites into as many directories as possible, and if u make enough money, unlike me, u can advertise with google, submit ur site into their main directory, that brings the real traffic, i get dozens of uniques a day on my site http://www.gamers-forum.uni.cc usually from directories.

Use sig links?

I'm planning on advertising on my competitors forum(s). My forum will be unique and have a good contest at launch time. My competitor forum(s) have alot of members, but their forums are unprofessional and run by inactive Admins. Now is the time for me to jump in, create my own forum, and start the launch with a great contest. Time to steal alot of members! :devil:

The best way is to find high traffic forums that allow you to advertise for free, then just write up a post about your site with a link to it. Try to find numerous forums to advertise on. Of course if you are willing to pay there are much better methods.

To get traffic to your forum and that's for free you can use
directory submission
give space to user for advertisements
Use signature in your forum
tell as many as your friends and relatives to visit your forum
