Does anyone have any ideas that can help build a good email list without breaking my pocket book. I have purchased one solo ad--11,000 subscribers. But, I can't afford to do any others right now. I really would like to be successful and learn all I can from all of you. Who knows maybe someday I will have something to offer to someone else, too.

Thanks, Ann

Offer great content on a good website well presented and advertise your newsletter.

You can start a contest for the first 100 person to subscribe or something like that.

If your content is good and you send a short update once a week or so, people will come back to the site and will read the newsletter.

And please, post all your question in one topic unless there's a specific section for that subject.

Have you tried buying ad space in a related newsletter with a big subscriber base?

Firstly the users receiving it are obviously interested in your niche/genre and secondly they are not adverse to signing up to mailing lists - your perfect subscribers!

Just stick a prominent newseletter sign-up button on your landing page from the ad and you should hopefully see good conversions.

You can always use free ad services such as InstantBuzz to advertise your link. Instead of linking to a web page, why not use a mailto link to link directly to your autoresponder? It's just a thought, but if your main purpose is to build your list, cut out the middle-man (the website) and get right to it. I've used this technique in the past with varying degrees of success, depending on what I was offering. If you can, offer a free report, brochure/catalog or ebook relating to the topic of your list...this gives a little added incentive for them to sign up for your list. Good luck to you!

Humbly,
Trevor Dean

You could also try starting a blog that gives some information and link that either back to your website or have the opt in link on there, this will help people to trust you and build credibility so you will get more subscibers

Did you have results with your Solo ad?

I intend to buy one in DEMC, I want to give it a try.

It's $10 / 1000 subscribers.

They have 30,000 opt-in.

Let me know how your ad does if you don't mind. I'm trying to find a reputable solo ad list to submit to. If anyone knows of one please share.

Old 09-01-2006, 05:32 AM Here are many ideas on how to build a list without money

Hi Ann,

One way to build an email list that doesn't cost money but does take some
time is to start an ezine/newsletter. You can either write this yourself or you
can get free articles from the article directories (just Google it). Then put
these articles into your autoresponder. Next create the optin page on your
site. Once everything is set up it is time to let the world know you are
around.

In order to gain new subscribers for your publication, you must continuously
promote it. There are many sites on the Internet that will list your e-zine free
of charge.

You can just google each of these ideas and get some good links. Or PM me
and I will give you my list of links that I use. I haven't been a part of this
forum long enough to post links/urls.

Be sure that when you participate in any of these places to never spam.

Ezine directories
It is really important to write a good description of your ezine/newsletter.

Discussion groups/lists/forums/message boards/chat
These are a group of individuals who have mutually subscribed to receive
posts from other individuals on the same email list. Also, in some of them you
are not allowed to actually advertise. Be sure to read the rules.

Announcement lists
Announcement Lists provide a great way to announce your new publication to
their entire list of subscribers.

Ezine webrings
Webrings are groups of sites with similar content all linked together to
exchange traffic. If you don't have a web site for your publication, you
definitely need to get one.

Ad Trading
Trading Ads with fellow publishers is one of the best ways to build your
subscriber base. It's as simple as it sounds. You simply contact the publisher
you're interested in exchanging ads with and ask them if they would be
interested in an ad exchange.

Newsgroups
Participate in newsgroup discussions. As with most discussion lists or groups,
blatant advertising is prohibited, but sig files are acceptable.

Press Releases
Write a press release and tell the world about your publication. Make sure
you write it in the third person.

Hope this helps.

Well one of the most successful strategies to capture leads has been to have a specially built Opt-In Page with your Newsletter Sign Up form and a few FREE Give Aways. (ie Use this Opt-In Page on your Traffic Exchange account and lure in prospects)....

Hey Ann are you part of an email marketing program? I use GetResponse and they allow me to have a floating signup box drop in after about 5 seconds after the potential customer hits any of my sites. This can be a great list builder if you offer them some type of freebie after signup. A report or sometype of content they can use in a blog. You know, get creative. The sky's the limit. If you're not subscribed to a list manager like this I personally think you should be. It saves me loads of time managing my list and any offers I've come across that I'd like to blast out to my list.

Some of the benefits of using the service you can have are as follows:

1- You can generate automated follow up emails that are delivered every 2 days or weekly or whenever you chooses.
2- You have a double opt-in option (Always good to stay away from spam blacklisting)
3- You'll have the option to broadcast immediately to all or a filtered listing of your subscribers.
4- Allows you to have multiple campaigns going.

With these tools you can start to generate some traffic to your sites and have better incentives for purchases of your product offerings as well as a simpler list management tool.

Hope that helps a little!

Fredto,

I want to make sure I undertand your comment so I don't do anything wrong. What did you mean about posting all of your questions in one topic unless there is specific section?

Do you mean that this person asked the same question in other sections?

Thanks,

Donn

Duss Dog,

That sounds great. I have several domains I have purchased based on my upline's recommendation, but I am not sure how to use them, yet. I see you are with similar companies as I am, so your post caught my eye.

Thanks,

Donn

This post has been very helpful with building email lists. I wish I was able to contribute something worth while.

However, one of the tactics I have personally used was to award people. For example, if you're the 100th subscriber, you get a gift certificate. Or something like that.

Yes I've latched on with some of my uplines recommendations as well however don't buy too much of what they send down to you or you'll find yourself putting out more than you take in. Make sure you NEED what it is you're buying. Take more time to promote what you have and put your dollars in that area. Just some advice. :glare:
