My website is really in it's infancy. It is blog based. I have been aggressively working away on it over the last few weeks submitting it to directories, keeping content fresh, using technorati, DIGGing, classifieds advertising, forums, exchanging links, etc.

Everything I have done so far has been free and has really just involved getting down and dirty and doing some hard work. As I sit here this evening working on it I have been pondering where the best place would be to spend money in order to benefit my site.

My site is completely content driven and I use Adsense and CJ as my main income sources. I have money set aside currently for my site, and I don't know where the best place is to spend it. For a person such as myself do I spend money on contextual advertising such as Adwords or is there a better use for my money? What will benefit me the most? I don't know how much Adwords would really benefit me when my income is from Adsense.

The site in question is the one in my signature.

Adbrite is said to have good prices... but you really gotta dig the site before you find the right spots.

How about making & distributing a press release? Those have done good to me...

AdWords needs some skill to use efficiently.
Here is an article on optimizing your AdWords.

Press releases are worth it for newsworthy causes only, and don't expect much from them anyway. A $80 or $120 PR WEb press release might worth it if you write it well and have a good reason to do it.

I'd suggest investing in some website optimization consultant to tune your site and copywriting to get quality content on your site. Reviews of products you have, related articles, etc.

Of course, you may consider me biased here. But speaking from experience, having an easy to use site with a lot of unique content is the best thing you can have right now.

The thing is, if you have quality content and your affiliate products only add to your site and content, you can build relationships with other sites for free. It'll require some work, though.

Great content attracts traffic and links and makes your customers happy to buy from you. What more do you need.

As for advertising, buying a link from a relevant site that will bring you traffic (in a prominent spot) might worth it, but you'll spend a lot of time looking for that link even with such a system as Text Link Ads.

So, in my opinion, the best investment is in the site's quality.

AdVoyager is good place to test some "adwords" ads before starting with the real adwords.

It's cheap and you can get used to writing those small ads without spending a lot of money. For $20 you can get a pack of 500 clicks. It's the same system as google adwords, you only pay when someone clicks.

I'm guessing because AdWords is used by many to game false clicks on their websites in return for cash.

Am I right?

I don't reccomend adwords. Someone did the math a while ago but you would have to have really great CTR and high paying ads just to break even.

IMO: Your best bet would be to purchase some text links or banner ads from other webmasters with related sites. These are often much more worth it.
