, but the reason people are using methods like article marketing and getting links are because they work.

AND you should concentrate on QUALITY of your articles. Yes, maybe 200000 other webmasters are doing that, but maybe 1% of them have a valuable content. At least that´s my experience with articles. Too many PIPS-alike users go write articles about things they don´t have a clue and are doing it just because they were told to.

Yes, that would definitely be accurate. Makes me wonder why we are doing certain things. For example: Are traffic exchanges really worth the time and effort?

I do TE to see what other people are doing and get ideas. I tried everything from selling custom ebook packages to just pointing to my BLOG/Podcast.

The results were not worth my time.

Some people are able to convert into subscribers, but the quality of the subscriber can really only be so good if they are doing TE.

Somethign to watch out for. SPAM and Trojan Horse websites. These sites get filled with a bait and switch popping in a re-direct after the page is approved. Always run a popup blocker, anti virus software and a spyware program.

Yes, I am seeing all the popups and trojan attempts... they get blocked and its good to use Firefox browser with that stuff for the security it provides.

Article submissions is a proven way to get you on the first page of Google. Any serious net marketer uses this method, there are millions of adsense sites that combs these directories for fresh articles resulting in one way links to your site, articles will always be needed.
Another great way to get backlinks, opt ins etc, is to create a free ebook with very good need to know info and weave your website links tthru it and give it away, sell it on ebay as a download if it really has valuable info or joint venture with other websites for a percentage of sales if they giveaway your free ebook. Wow I'm getting some ideas here... lol
