I have heard a lot of people building lists for email promotion. I am not talking about any kind of spammy techniques just putting boxes up on my sites so that people can sign up to be notified of changes to the sites.

Are there any free ways to easily mange a list and send out emails to the list. I do not want to have to type a list of emails into a new email everytime I message them. Also what should I do to make sure I am doing this legally?

Hey johniman7,

Are you familiar with what an autoresponder is? They are designed to do exactly you are describing. An excellent choice is http://www.getresponse.com. You can actually use it for free. There is also an upgrade available for a reasonable price that allows you to send out messages without others' ads included (the free account displays others' ads in your emails). They have utilities for creating html code for signup forms.

Make sure you only send emails to people that have requested them or explicitly agreed to receive them (ie, who have entered their email addresses in your boxes).

As for free apps to manage/bulk email - I'm looking for one too. I might write one actually..

I use getresponse - they've been around for awhile and seem reliable. Also you can pay for more leads to be added to your list, when you've got the cash for it!
