What is the point of buying traffic?

I have a question about sites that sell traffic (especially those sites who guarantee a certain amount of traffic within a specified period of time). Don't you actually lose money when buying traffic? They charge much more that what you would get through your cpm? Also if your selling a product I don't think anyone is going to buy it because how are you guaranteed its a real visitor?

It seems the only way to actually make money from this is to annoy your REAL users with loads of popups and ad's. Anyone had any success with buying traffic?

It depends what kind of traffic you buy. PPC traffic is better than 20,000 visitors for $2 offers

Not everyone uses adsense or YPN as the backbone of their business model. The sites I manage don't use adsense, YPN, or any affiliate program.

I have bought traffic one time and had pretty good results from it. I actually bought targeted traffic which came from redirected visitors to sites that were no longer there or available in the target market they were seeking. These are not pop-ups or pop-unders. I used this particular traffic to sell a $300 product and I made this money back from a $99 traffic campaign for 10,000 visitors of the same. I still have not even gotten my entire 10,000 visitors yet so I can redirect them anywhere I want as well. So, for me, the $99 was definitely worth it. But it really depends on what kind of traffic it is and what you are looking for. Narrow down your target market and maybe invest in a small test with it. I wouldnt go around spending money on any old kind of traffic though, because then you will definitely be losing money.

I've heard about sites that have "bought" large amounts of traffic, and had their AdSense accounts banned because of the "low quality" of visitors. A lot of those free traffic services encourage users to click ads which is a huge red flag at Google.

Its funny how you said you bought targeted redirected traffic. This is the same type of advertising I am using to promote the sites I have. I purchase about 300,000 hits a month for all the sites I promote. The performace actually pays for it self. I just keep cycling the revenues into more redirected traffic advertising to built up my site traffic & revenue.

$99 is a bit high for 10,000 visitors. You can get them for $37 at http://www.redirected-traffic.com

Thanks..I will check that out. Also, I think that is a good strategy you have and I planned on doing the same by rolling any revenue from previous campaigns back into more targeted redirected traffic.

Where exactly does this traffic come from? And does your site get framed when shown to the visitor? The terms & conditions at redirected-traffic.com said that you're not allowed code that breaks out of frames.

It would be nice to see an example of the process...

Most of them are rubbish traffics, presumably redirected traffic/expired domain/domain parking traffic.

I just signed up for a $37 campaign for www.howtoadvertise.net with these guys. I've never used a service like this before, so I'm interested to see how it goes!

I choose US Premium Traffic from the "Marketing - Internet" category. I'll be doing a writeup on it as the campaign progresses on the same site if anyone is interested.

Worldwebuser,

your myspace strategy with adsense, does it comply with their TOS?

My initial writeup on redirected-traffic.com is posted. I'll add to it later as the campaign progresses, but you can see my initial impression at:

Are most of you using the redirected traffic for adsense type sites? If so, how is that working out for you?
