Just curious in all my days I have seen and used some strange way of making money and promoting my network of sites.

What was your strangest method? Let me know your story and share it with the rest of us.

It doesnt have to be a method that worked, just a general disccusion.

I put my URL on the back of all of my bills.

The Nitro guys used to have a website where they discussed odd traffic generating ideas.

Cut up pieces of paper and write your URL on te slips of paper. Go to barnes and noble or your local library and put the slips in all the books and magazines.

If you want to be more creative create a unique webpage and paper slip for each type of book category.

For exmaple in the wight loss section put the URL of a weightloss webiste in the books.

Its like adwords for books.

NICE. Any legal ramifications from doing this?

I have done it many times and gotten no complaints or problems.

However you have to keep an eye out for staff, but in large booksteores like barnes and noble the ratio of employees to store space is very small so probably you won't be seen.

If you want a higher reponse rate print out stiff 4x6 index card advertisements perhaps with color and place them in the middle of the book or magazine.

This works best with investment and weightloss books.

I wanted to throw a gig for bandoftheweek.com but never did it, but I know it would have worked. The url would have been in all the flyers and a banner behind the bands playing.

I paid a few kids around my neighborhood $500 to take my stickers and put them on all the stop signs they could find. Of course, everyone looks at stop signs.

Slips of paper in books and magazines? Very innovative but does it work?

Bumper stickers aren't cheap and people don't luke having them plastered everywhere since they are hard to remove. You can only put them on your property.

Slips or paper method is pratically free and easy to do and quite effective considering your getting free leads .
