Hello members

Sorry if I posted this in wrong section but I would really like to know what kind of website would make as good as myspace or youtube and as popular as them growing mainly by the word of mouth and be known by everyone??

Thanks for sharing

Sit there with a pen and paper, write down all the Social Networking sites you know and there idea e.g. Digg - Computer News, MySpace - friends

Then look at that and try and come up with something that has not been used. Simple. But honestly I would tell you if I knew what it was, I would throw it online and do some aggressive promotion

exactly what he said , you wont get the answer but if you can think of something good go for it.

what myspace, youtube, friendsters etc did was create a site that people can use, contribute and customize. plus there viral, so thats the biggest thing. you need to look at something everyone can use real easy.

My thoughts exactly. If someone knew what would be the next big hit they'd pursue it themselves, not tell someone else.

It isnt worth it. Your odds of creating a successful thriving social network are almost nill because of oversaturization and costs. You would have to either hire someone code it or be very skilled in order to put it together, and then spend much more on promotion, and then the odds of it succeeding are slim.

second life!, watch it explode in 2007, it already blow up in 2006.
You can make some serious money for investing with ''linden dollars''
There are already big company's moving to this world.

The key to success is to find something that everyone needs or wants, but doesn't yet exist (unless you want to piggy back off the success of others....)

And if I knew of such a thing I don't think I'd be telling anyone.

I'll second the "second life" question. How do you make real life money with game money?

SecondLife is an MMOG. As far as I know, it's sort of like The Sims Online. The way you would make money is by selling in-game money, real estate, or etc. Since it has its own economic system you could try to use that to get you money or land. (For example, buy a piece of land, build stuff on it to increase its value, and then sell the undeveloped parts. Then maybe you could get refunds for the improvements or something.)

You might also be able to get money with add-on-type sites. E.g. for myspace you have layout sites. Research and find what would be the second-life equivalent. Then sell whatever it is for real money, in-game money, or just put a ton of ads on the site.

web generation 3 is distributed web.

web 3 will be based on LAMP appliances, so that anyone has his own webpresence hosted at home, networked with his household items, so that the community knows exactly, when joe doe took the last beer out of his fridge

but honestly, thats what i believe will be the next hype. hardware will take the lead this time, and "internet everywhere" will be the challenge.

yeah myspace and youtube are too big now....i hear some talk of squidoo (sore of same as myspace) I doubt it will grow to the size of myspace but.

What you have to understand is that the internet is always constantly changing. There are always new developments with the web 2.0 so sit back and enjoy this coming year.

I predict there will be an even bigger website than myspace or youtube but it wont related to these niches...but it will still have to do with social networking but....just a matter of time.
