Hi,

I've had a niche idea for a good few months and its a subject that I have recently become really interested in.

The site is the only site around that supports this very highly demanded service. Basically my site will be the only place they can turn for help, however its getting the information together and getting people there that I feel is going to let it down when it opens.

I really need some suggestions on how to market a site aimed at webmasters/internet users. I need lots of content, much of which I will be writing myself. However is it a good idea to hire people to write some of the articles for me? If so, how much is the going rate?

Thanks in advance.

Rick

I would just use places like this and other forums to see how much people would charge to write content like this. A really good article writer wont charge more than 10 bucks i guess. But the content of the articles have to be really good. Thats the secret if its just plain old info people wont be intrested.

The rate for people from India to write articles is around 1-2 dollars per 250-500 word article. For good writers it seems to be about 7-15 dollars per article.

One thing you might try is a user-generated content form. I have a site with a decent user base and community, and the form I have on my site gets several submissions every day. The sites' traffic is about 50-70 daily uniques: (The Form)

Well we are going to allow user submissions, and hopefully people will submit articles. In exchange we give them a link back in the article.

It seems the way to get SE traffic as I made an article for another subject (its posted on EF) and i have it on my personal website, when you type in something along the lines of "Prevent SSH Attacks" the first 10 or so results are my article with a link to my website inside.

Hopefully this will have the same effect!

yup, that also the way to generate traffic. You also need to promote your link in other related niche blog, forum or website.

Try rentacoder, i found great writers there. The rate is ~5$ per aticle.

Not all writers are good enough. Some may try to misguide you. (e.g. they can return you nonoriginal articles - you can check the originality at http://www.copyscape.com/) To eliminate these problems you may select the coder which has previous good ratings on writing.

Good luck.

I think investing in some article writers is a good idea. I remember Lee mentioning on the WonLiDoSho that he had an article writer once that would write 300-500 word articles for only $5 each. $5 for completely unique content is a pretty good investment I think.

Thanks for the suggestions guys -- I'll give rent-a-coder a try!

I've written a few myself, however I'm not the best when it comes to copy writing unfortunately.

Start making friends with people in the niche (offline and online) - be polite and helpful to them. They will be the people that make or break your site.

I personally believe (and sure some of you will agree with me) that getting thematic one way links can be best achieved by content development (writing unique articles) and submit them to power article banks and other resources.

Next, can be pure link building (and other submissions) in the queue.

Finally, SEO would neither be a bad option.

If you need serious exposure consider serious advertisement. Think big.
