I know its a fraction of what is needed for a great launch, but I have a $100 budget to promote cingularusers.net and need suggestions. I soft-launched last month and have been slowly improving the site and bought some paid posts too. Now I'm ready to retry.

So where's my money best spent?

bulletinboost.com myspace bulletin campaign?
$100 of adwords?
Mixture of the two?
Directory submissions?

I find adwords performs pretty bad as far as conversions to users goes. But maybe I'm doing it wrong.

I'd suggest focusing on SEO, i.e. hiring one-way backlink builders or buying text links on high traffic high PR sites. With the latter $100 would likely only get you a month though. I'd personally go the SEO route and target high traffic cingular related keywords. Like popular cingular only phones etc.

Any recommendations for backlink builders and/or SEO guides?

I think maybe some paid advertising would be a good route. I'd suggest a contest but there's not much in the phone industry you can get for $100.

first get stuff Cingular users will need. like loaders , ringtones specs, software to make them , wallapapers etc. once you have that then promote it by link exchanges and cingular stores. maybe go and talk to the guys working and see what sites they use to trick out their phones.

howardsforum im sure is one of em. post on the big sites (with your sig) and get it out there.

I think with that amount, the best thing you can do is to promote via signature links on popular and related forums. Good luck.

This is what I've settled on.

1. $10 paid posting campaign on my site, 100 posts just to kick start since its been dead for a few weeks.
2. $30 for 250 posts on howardforum and cellphoneforum with my link in people's signatures
3. $15 for 200 free directory submissions at submitedge.com to build some backlinks (I know they are low quality backlinks, but for $15 its hard to complain)
4. $50 campaign at bulletinboost.com to hit 100,000 myspacers per day for 3 days for some instant traffic.

That's $5 over my budget, but close enough. I think that is a pretty even spread of approaches. Site is only a PR1 now, so there is plenty of room for growth.

I think this is a good plan.

By the way, is this bulletinboost.com really work? Did they do any dangerous things like spamming myspace. I did not use myspace. So if you can describe in simple sentences, that would be great for me.

No they use various techniques to avoid violating myspace's rules.

I really like their service, it can provide a big traffic boost relatively cheaply, and you know they are real visitors and not bots. The owner is honest and fair too.

It works really well for arcades and other general interest sites IMO.

I see. Thanks for the answer. I guess it will not be much useful for a Java forum

Maybe somebody should start a Myspace site for webmasters. I read today that NASCAR star Earnhardt Jr. just launched his own social site for nascar fans this week.

It was decent for what it is...advertising a forum for customers of a specific product on a general interest social forum.

I got 10 new members out of it....not what I was hoping for but hits are hits I guess.

Could think of something like this myself.

Check this one out, I used them to promote my youtubeforums.com site, got about 60-70 new members.

http://www.unique-traffic.com/index.php#order

For 100$ you can get 20,000 targeted unique visitors or untargeted, get a counter like statcounter.com and check them flock, worked well for me. good luck.
