Physically it's there, but all your communications to that account is most likely disabled.
They're leaving the accounts up and looking active for 2 reasons that I can think of.
1. Some accounts do get phished, and it gives the REAL profile owner a chance to reclaim it. Myspace will do a manual review of the account and make a decision whether or not it was once a real account, or just an account to market through.
2. To waste marketers time. Running comments or messages from an account that appears to be active keeps marketers from running comments or messages on an active account. Thus, taking away hours (if you have lots of profiles) of productive marketing away from the marketer.
There are programs out there that 'checks' your profiles for you and seperates the good from the bad, but only checks the sign in for deleted accounts. I've yet to see one publically available that actually signs in and looks for that warning on the messages inbox to verify the validity of the account.
Just don't waste your time with sending comments from that profile anymore, move onto another profile and count it as a loss.
