Anyone know of any good URL Masking methods other than using frames? I want http://www.mysite.com to stay in the browser, Even if the user is redirected to affiliate.com. Any help would be appreciated!

Unfortunately using frames is the only option if you want to keep your URL in the browser.

What about mod_rewrite in Apache? I have no idea how to accomplish this myself, But I hear it works. Are there any .htaccess codes to do this? How many visitors do you think I would lose due to their browser not supporting frames?

You could build a proxy into your site that will only proxy the affiliate site. It could then load the affiliate page server-side (or event client-side using AJAX) and display the page, while still appearing to the user that they are on your site (because they are).

Frames is a lot easier though =)

Point 1- he's probably asking so he can do PHISHING. Point 2 - lying to your customers about where they are on the net does not engender trust!

1. No one uses frames to phish, there is no point to that.

2. This doesn't just apply to the internet customers get lied to all the time, it's just way things work.. accept it.

I wasn't referring to the frames. The .htaccess way of doing it, rather. I know how to do that, but I ain't telling.

Not on your nelly!
If you accept it, you're condoning it. I will never do that.

(I agree that it applies to other media).

No, he's likely asking to mask affiliate links.

EXACTLY! I do not phish, Or really even spam for that matter. I do 1-on-1 marketing, But the certain affiliate I am using lists my userid right in my link. I'd like to avoid that by masking my URL. Just because I do not want them to see my affiliate link, Does not mean I am a fraud.

Well, Say I am sending them to domain.com which forwards to affiliate.com/id=affid. I'd like to keep domain.com in the address bar. Or even if I could keep affiliate.com there without my affiliate id being included. This is not to decieve people at all. I use PPC and many other methods where I want my domain to directly forward them to the affiliate, I just want to mask the domain.

Thank you all for your help!
