I'm not sure that's accurate. The strength of a widget is in it's portability and that it can be housed anywhere that can drop XML (which on the web is virtually anywhere).
For example my widget can be used on a person's Google Homepage or another site. The widget asks a series of questions about plants that are having problems (are the leaves yellow? do they curl?) in yes/no fashion and when the widget gets to the probable answer for the problem your plant is experiencing it brings you to a page on my site describing the problem and ways to alleviate it.
I'm not sure it would do better hosted on a blog vs. anywhere else.
I may be misunderstanding your point, but would like to understand better your meaning (afterall you are the one making the big bucks! hee hee)
