Looks like the admins have completely deleted the myspace section on the forum?
Just as well I guess since myspace is almost dead as an income generator.
But boy did that section open up my eyes on how to make real $$ by NOT using myspace.

What is this about exactly? Some kind of scandal or did myspace list sharing etc just not work?

I'm not familiar with myspace or how exactly it was being used for promotion but it must still have value in at least ability to gain exposure in some way?

Care to clarify, anyone?

1. What was the myspace monetization/advertising thing all about?

2. How did it die? (if it did)

It always will work if you know what your doing. I usually get a few hundred hits a day off it still. I make a decent amount off profiles I don't even bother with anymore.

Here is the announcement thread: http://www.earnersforum.com/t15127/

All those other ideas are fine to discuss as long as they flow within our guidelines. This forum "Promotion & Advertising" will be the place for this.

NOt sure what you mean but I would assume the mods/Lee deleted the section due to increased pressure and legal issues surrounding myspace marketing. I'm not implying that EF was under any pressure or legal issues but that MS has been clamping down.

The sheer numbers of people on MS, most of whom are kids that will click on anything, lent itself to opportunities for people to use their friendlists in order to promote anything from bands to ringtones. Automated software made it easier.

LOL..sure. $$$$$ THat's all it was/is about

2. How did it die? (if it did)
Hasn't died but is on life support. I was one of the unlucky ones who realized it's potential after the big money had been made. I made a few bucks  but nothing like many others did. But as I said, it opened my eyes to other opportunities that make myspace look like chump change.

Really, it was just that I didn't like the majority of those discussions were heading.

That the real affiliate money is not with stuff that kids are a part of.
And myspace=kids.

I got lucky, something fell into my lap in another forum. I expanded on it and (for the time being anyway) my income has increased dramatically.
