I have been trying to jump start a small forum of mine for close to a year now. 13 active members later, i decided to order a paid posting campaign to get some more content in there.

So, i bought a ForumShock package.... i beleive it was for 15 users and 1000 posts.

I paid over 3 weeks ago.
it took 2 weeks to get a reply to my email and get a login at their appearant parent company, paidposting.com
date to start was about a week ago, and a date to end is way out in novemeber.

to date, i have received 0 users assinged to my board, and have 0 new registrations and 0 new posts.

While i realize 1000 posts takes time to get, i would expect to see a couple names on the site posting up some stuff.

There's plenty of news in my niche to post topics on, so its not like its hard.

Overall, i'm entirely dis-satisfied and am contemplating filing a paypal reversal on them for failure to fulfil my order.

paid posting sucks, best to get a few friends and post away, even make a few fake names yourself and talk to yourself and seed your site with open-ended topics that people can post on.

i have. most got bored after 2 or 3 posts.

i get a decent amount of SE traffic... just can't get anyone to stay because my board is so empty.

talking to my self gets boring, and i end up posting crap instead of detailed responses.

I know the guy who basically invented the paid posting business. Brian hit me up and I'll give you his name as he still dabbles. Most of all paid posting sites use his scripts for tracking and what not now.

paidpostingtools sucks big time.

Have used forum shock and a few others who advertise on the paid posting tools site.

I am still trying to get 200 bucks back from them and I have lost all contact now, it's been months.

Your better getting random people of digital point and paying as you go.

Luckly I get enough organic traffic and members so don't require them anymore.

Regardless getting a new forum off the ground these days is tough, good luck.

paid posting does suck, because if you are experienced in something your better off posting it yourself than some tweedle dumb out there.

remember its post quality that will give your success. quality over quantity i always say thats always the smartest way to go.

It didn't use to suck.

Greed slithered it's way into the business and ALL the paidposting owners started allowing themselves to be overbooked. While all the writers found they could get paid more just taking jobs posted on DP.

I've used forumshock in the past over 5 times. The first 3 were amazing. Great members, fast posting, quality posts.

The last 2 were like pulling teeth just trying to get them started. Neither of them were ever finished.

I have a question about this. My son is a college student interested in doing something like this. He's an English major, has several interest areas, he's articulate and his grammar and spelling are superb. What are the paid posters charging or, if they're going through a service, what are they getting paid? TIA.

If he's any good there is much more money in article writing, press release writing etc.

I would recommend that you do some research into any paid posting service before you use it as anyone can easily set one up and claim that they have been around for a while and will take your money before hand and will never post.

I have had this experience in the past. The best thing to do if you really want to get posts is to actually go to a forum that has a buy, sell or trade section and then post there that you would like a few forum posts where you will pay them something like $0.10 - $0.15 per post. It's only then you will pay them once they have finished the posts. I have done that and it has worked out just fine for me, but you have to watch a few of them as some of them will write some quick garbage just to increase their post count.

Good luck anyway.
