So i see everybody ranting and raving about Facebook applications?!

I'll be honest im new to facebook and im obviously missing the huge potential. Would anybody care to explain from the beggining what its all about?

Well, facebook is taking over the social networking industry - it's currently surpassing Myspace in traffic and a lot of programmers are making applications.

Ok. What is a facebook application? And where is the link between social networking and promotion? Bit of a newbie as im sure u can tell. But i have made £1.25 today
