Have you ever been subscribed to an autoresponder series or newsletter where every day, or sometimes multiple times daily, you receive messages trying to hard sell you on various programs or affiliate products?

I've subscribed to many newsletters, and to be honest, I quickly unsubscribe from the ones that are all about trying to get me to buy something.

I believe that the most effective method is to limit the frequency of your messages to once or twice per week. Any more than that and the subscribers begin to take your messages for granted and just delete them.

Remember, most people will have several subscriptions and are getting messages from many other sources. They are on information overload, so if you are inundating them with messages, your messages will just end up in the trash bin.

You've got to give your subscribers good content. Be sure that the information you expect your subscribers to read is something that you find useful and interesting. You want your readers to go away feeling like the time reading your message was time well spent.

People like to get free things. The will always take advantage of free ebooks and videos that are offered in the ezines that they're subscribed to. In fact, when I get overwhelmed with email, I quickly scan through them and delete all that don't have a free tool or information product that I'm interested in.

Of course you are only sending out your messages so you can sell something. Everybody is. But, the messages should have a soft sell, rather than a hard sell. Provide links in your signature or small ads mixed in throughout your good content to redirect your reader to a sales page. The sales page is is a better place to do your hard sell.

It depends. I know some marketers who send out two emails a day
and it works very well for them. One of the emails will sell nothing
and provide good content and the other hard sells a product or
program that they are in.

They say on average that it takes about 6 or 7 times before someone
even notices an advertisement or begins to show interest in buying it.

There have been times when I have signed up for a list and received
numerous emails from someone which I have ignored only to wind up
buying something from them a year later when I finally click on what
they are offering and check it out.

But I would agree also if you plan on doing any kind of email marketing
you are going to need to provide something of value to the subscriber.
