Hi All,

I have developed a ecommerce site and in few months it getting a very great amount of traffic....

Im doing a big advertisement in a few weeks to reach around 500,000 users and expecting lot of hits to my site in a couple of weeks...

Im bit worried about whether the site can handle such huge traffic.

I have developed the site in PHP / Oracle 8.

Suggestions are welcome to enhance or optimize the site to handle the traffic.

What kind of server are you on? Is it a dedicated server, if so upgrade the ram/cpu if you feel it's neccessary. I'm not so sure about exactly what code you have running the back end so it's not like someone could really help you there, I don't think.

Yes I have a dedicated Linux Server running Apache with PHP and Oracle as backend. The server side programming is done by me.. Its a ecommerce site selling products for Electronic goods.

Im not sure about the hardware but its very high end machine and also the Oracle is running in a separate server.

If you’re on a high end server you should be able to handle the load. I recently had the same problem and had to upgrade to a quad Xeon. Visitors have no patience for slow sites and disappear quickly.
