If I were you, I'd do the following:
I'd set aside $100.00 of that for Google adwords, right off the bat. After all, they
are the leader for a reason. Being the largest, it should bring you in a decent amount of traffic at the
very least.
Next, I would take another $50.00 of that, and apply it to some PPC (Pay Per Click) advertising. This will bring you in atleast 100 000 visitors. If one of those are interested, you just made your money back, since your copyright and web designing services tend to cost a bit.
Lastly, I would take out another $100.00 portion for business propositions. As you are in the web industry, who you are depends on what friends you have. So go ahead and make soem friends! Get friendly with Web Hosting companies, small advertisers, and other web-developers. Arrange some kind of market with them. for example (Since I am in the Web Hosting Industry), I'll talk about what I've done in the past.
As a webhost, i've offered Web Designers free services. In turn they reffer their clients to us, as some of them don't have a home for their newly created website. It creates a symbiotic relationship, where both parties benefit. I mentioned setting aside the 100 dollars, because well, sometimes money can really smooth some people over
. Make sure you know what you're investing into, however.
So, it's been a total of $250.00 . Not too much? Well, you should really start to notice the differences. Especially from the PPC advertising. You should realy start to feel the visitors kicking in. Remeber, that PPC members LOVE to earn money. So setup some kind of affiliate service, and watch as they register for it, and further spread the word of your business!!!
So you have $750.00 left? Well, after observing those little tests, which were the most effective? Maybe you can use another 50 dollars to try out some different advertiisng networks. In which case you'll be left with $700.00 .
With the remaining, decide which had brought in the most productivity. Maybe you'll feel that you should divide the money in the same way a second time.
However, it's important that you just don't throw it into one place, at one given moment.
