I have an idea for a website that I want to start, which would basically involve running a daily live video stream for people to watch. Because of the nature of this idea, I expect that people would not be opening pages of my site very often, but instead would simply have the one page with the video stream open for an extended period of time. In order to maximize the amount of ads I could expose these viewers to, I have considered a system by which the ads on that page would be refreshed automatically after a set amount of time. Only the ads would be refreshed, while the rest of the page remains unaffected.

For example: I have a banner ad set above the video window which is refreshed once every minute. If I had a viewer that watched my video stream for one hour, this would result in 60 ad impressions from that individual.

So, would this be acceptable? Would advertisers be willing to work with such a model? I myself don’t see any inherent problems with it, but then again I am rather inexperienced in the field of online marketing. I just want to make sure that nothing has gone over my head with this idea or anything.

Sounds fine. You'll soon have a way of judging the system when you see how many advertisers respond.

The one problem is that they have to be sold on the quality of your work in that viewers are going to stick with the video. As long as you're getting paid per click, I can't see any issue.

Going forward, it's perhaps a sign of the future if we start to see advertisements served that are relevant to video content, changing mid-stream to suit what's being displayed.

I'm not sure how successful your click-through rate will be though. If somebody is engaged in the video stream, are they likely to be clicking a revolving advertisement?

Maybe at the end of the video, but there's a few things you'll have to consider.

It seems perfect now but as you get the results you can tweak it a bit more.

lots of website are already using this technique. It is common now.

You shouldn't be worried about that.
