Does anyone have a corporate sponsorship for their website? I came across sponsoranything.com, where you can list how much money you want, and then if someone is interested, they will sponsor u. Of course you have to put an ad for their company on your site, but w/e. Also, it's $20/month just to post on that site. Is this a good idea?

You could also just get on the phone, or knock on doors of the marketing and advertising departments of various relevant companies and sell ad space directly.

One of my friends work with these guys, they are getting a ridiculous amount of money for their ads compared to the traffic they receive. Why? Because they sell ads directly. They also visit local businesses, and call up Geico, AAA, Napa, etc and sign them up (hit refresh a few times to see the ads served).

Don't stop
Rejection just comes with sales. Just keep knocking on doors and making phone calls.

Another option is to post in craigslist for ad sales people. Let them keep part of the money as a commision.

Good luck, and keep at it

When I hear sponsor, I think more of grants, than purchases of ad space.

You have to knock on a lot of doors. Going direct is an excellent way to go. If you look at the early ads for google and yahoo they made a ton of cold calls. It's all about scale.

Do you think contacting directly by email is the best way. I have space to sell on my site since it is a free dating site. it's a week old and I would like to sell the ad space on there so that it may be a good way to fund the advertising on google and other PPC stuff. What's the best way to sell this space?
