People keep asking on how to get consistent traffic to their website/blog. Na, here the ways to do it. But you need to do it consistently and focus.

1. Submit to website directories, article directories and social bookmarking. With this way, your website can become more popular!

2. Send a bulletin and E-mail to thousands of people. But do not spam. Do it right way.

3. Put your link in your forum signature. You will get traffic and backlink.

4. Write a report about something hot in trends now, and give it for free to people.

5. Include your URL in your business e-card.

6. Send an IM to your friends and mention your website to them. You can write a review for their product.

7. On your local notice board, post something attractive that will make people curious about your site. They’ll visit your URL for sure!

8. Become active commenter in famous blog.

9. Make Website/Wordpress/Blogger themes/templates, put your link on the footer area and distribute them for free.

10. Buy a link/space in high volume traffic blog/website.

You seem to have mentioned most of the crap and missed out on the only thing that is really necessary.

1 and really the only thing you need!

Have really good, useful content that people will want to read.

Yes, if you don't have good content, you don't have a leg to stand on.

In the context of promoting a new site, there's very few ways you can do this without spamming.

I could not agree more with you on this christhirst on the content because tricking or hyping people to get the the site will fade in the same day each visitor.
That content is todays current hot spot but their MIGHT be a new effort required coming to us all via the .com or URL side of the Internet world shortly?

This is an excellent way to start. But once you have that great site, you need to reach people so they can find it... Put up signs on the information highway (links) on other sites that have more traffic than yours.

The key is still having worth while content that users find interesting, and if possible make the page turn over a decent amount of pageviews.

All the things that have been mentioned are worth implementing but I’d like to add one more thing and which is one of the greatest lesson I’ve learned about getting traffic is that you have to have good content but it must provide enough value to your readers/subscribers so that they can visit your blog quite often.

Try to implement it and you’ll be rewarded with boat loads of traffic.

One way to get the email out isn't to send it.
Find somebody with a related site that sends regular email newsletters. Write something that their audience would find useful (make sure it's related to both of your sites) and get them to add a reference in their newsletter.

My 2 cents, Make changes to all existing data regularly. Just add to or take away it doesnt matter as long as change occurs ratings like that.

Couldn't agree more. You need to have solid, updated, contents to keep your site going. People might come, see your site, come again in a few days and notice that there are no changes, and eventually never come again
