Link bait may take a lot of time and effort before it can generate good results but it's one of the best way to get natural links

Also you can try link exchanges such as linkmarket.net and linkreferral.com I use them quite often to get some inbound links also check out my blog it has lots of information on traffic exchanges and linck exchanges <link drop removed>

You could create a profile on social networking sites and contribute articles on the subject of your blog to show that you are an expert on it. This will then hopefully drive interest and people to your blog site.

As you are in learning stage i guess you have submitted your site to all major search engines, directories,social bookmarking sites. Whatever you have done is free marketing till now.
Now prefer paid marketing where you could gather links from High PR's, Exchange links with them and approach do follow blog commenting service which might help you a lot
