What website promotion method would you prefer to use for website promotion strategy and why? Search engine optimization or Pay-Per-Click advertizing?

Christ is right. SEO mean SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION; we are making our website visible to SEs. Promotion is a different things, it fall under SEM (search engine marketing)

SEO is a long term strategy for gaining and maintaining targeted visitors to your site. PPC is short for Pummel Profits Continuously.

I would avoid CPC promotion because they normally dont' give returning users and it costs money, lowering your profit margin. There's enough free places to market your website out there, you just have to find a place that indexes them.

I prefer SEO methods myself. We have performed good SEO for one Canadian software development company 2 years ago and they still continue to get targeted visitors! All expectations have been fully justified!

Many people view SEO and PPC as 2 sides of coin when in fact we can use them both at the same time. And the best way of doing this is to bid on the same keywords you rank highly for and send PPC traffic to a review’ site. Having traffic sent to your main site through a ‘neutral review’ site greatly boosts sales.

sometimes you need to PPC to determine the good keywords, after all you want traffic that DOES convert rather than just blindly guess, right?

PPC is Pay Per Click, not Pummel Profits Continuously. You might mislead the newbies here since you didn't put LOL (to tell the its not the serious meaning of PPC)

I agree thaat SEO is a long term strategy (and a continuous task, too!) in gaining visitors that can be turn into buyers / customers.

I think both should be used. I usually focus more on organic but ppc is a great way of promoting specials or events because you have full control your ads.

Wow lots of ppc hatred in here...I prefer PPC because it can do everything SEO, (SEM) can do and more if you know what you're doing.

(and yes I'm biased because I make my living doing PPC)
