I am sorry if this is the wrong forum. I was thinking of posting this in the Ad forum but that looks like it is just for requests and offers and I did not want to push legit request off the front page for my question.
I would like to serve ads on my site. I have been doing a redesign and I think it would work well to put an rotating ad window in my main menu.
My question is what is more valuble, an ad that is a direct link to the site or one that may not be a direct link but offers statistics.
I installed phpAdsNew as a test on my site and I am finding it to be a very well done script. My concern is that since it does not create a direct link them it seems that the advertized site will not get any google benefits. The other option would be to just write a simple text rotation script. This would provide the direct link but it would not offer an of the tracking ability that comes with the redirecting URL's.
So, what is the best way to serve ads on your web site? I am looking to use text only ads since the space is limited on the menu bar.
