Hi,
I here a lot of good things about Stumbleupon but it doesn't seem to work for me.

Anyone have any tips to share on a quick way to make friends, or get more stumbles on your site?

It's very simple. Create content that the StumbleUpon community will probably like. Add an icon on your content to make it easy to submit and remind people you'd appreciate the submit.

Make friends by genuinely using the site. Submit content that the community will like. Content from sites not your own. Follow a few people who have similar interests and visit the content they submit. Vote up things you like, vote down things you don't like.

Just use the service genuinely and honestly. It's very obvious when someone is using a service like SU only to promote themselves. That leads to the opposite of what you're hoping will happen.
