Hello,
Do you think Automatic Directory Submission is a Waste of Time?
I paid for a few times on directory submission guys. They said they 'd use manual submission method but I think they used automatic software to submit to about 500 directories. Their work was done fast.
After about 3 weeks of submission, my site got indexed on google for some keywords. However, these keywords were not indexed after few weeks later and even got worse than before submission.
My question is "does it hurt my site ranking if we submitted too many directories in a short time?"
Is automatic directory submission waste of time?

Very simple you got a load of crappy links expecting them to be a magic bullet for search engines. And they weren't! No surprises there then!

I'm not so sure that it can't hurt your rankings. I have heard of a lot of people get a Google ranking penalty for getting too many links with the same anchor text.

It is a waste of time and money though. There are much better ways to spend your time and money.

When using a directory submission service, i always have at least 5 different titles, and 5 different descriptions at least to give to the person who is doing the submission's.

The service i use space's out submission's into a 5 day process. Of course if the person doing the manual submission (supposenly) use's quality free directories then the money you spent is worth it. Plus i expect a full report to prove this was done and a link to the directories.

I'd rather submit to web directories myself these days and not pay someone. Doing things myself put's the pressure on me to do things right and not waste my time submitting to a crappy directory that's already in the sandbox. Sometimes i'll submit a article to a directory instead of submitting my sites to it. Quality article is better then a 2 sentence description about your site on a directory.

Links from directories does not give much credit anymore. In that sense you can call it waste of time.

I would rather suggest build links on RELATED and DOFOLLOW blogs.

I think directory is out dated now and google is not giving much importance to it. second Google is removing a directory which is giving paid posting.

I think that automatic directory submission will not work. simply directories do have little weight to help your site build backlinks and traffic...

within a short time if your link back number is increase create some suspect for Google and Directory link is not much important then before.

A wrong directory which might be selling link and under google black list can ruin your reputation too.

so do it manually and do it with close look on every directory.

Yes it does hurt your rankings if you receive too many links from google to fast. IMHO automatic submissions are a waste of time as half of they directories are of no value and are already full of spam sites in waiting. Just stick to submitting to quality directory sites specific to your niche and you will be better off.

Its depend on how the auto submission software will by pass the capcha that mostly seen in directories.

Manually submission is better than Auto Submission.

According to my experience , Automatic directory submission has proved to be a waste of time and resources for. I know manual submission is time consuming but is worth it at the end.
