I received an email offering 10,000 free hits for signing up for a service called Screenswarm. It works similiar to traffic exchanges but instead of surfing for credit you display ads through your screensaver which in theory sounds great because you can earn traffic while away from your computer. Just wondering has anyone tried this or a similar service? The offer sounds good but I don't want to download it for free but then have a bunch of junk backdoored to my computer.

Don't know that I'll get an answer to that. Seems like no one has ever used this program before.

I can tell you that this will not be profitable without having ever used it. Yes you can get some traffic but the traffic you get is going to be the same as the traffic your giving - your screen saver loading a page and no one ever seeing anything. You won't convert any clicks or sales or anything else. Just waste time and bandwidth.

And as chris mentioned, this is a great example of why you shouldn't read spam emails.

Hi! Lana here. Yes, I've heard of ScreenSwarm... and am currently using it. I was rather surprised at how well it worked. I upgraded so that I could get lots of screen views so I could test my results. I've gotten a click through rate of up to 0.15%, which considering it's from a screen saver that's pretty cool. I've gotten 23 people added to my list from just this screen saver in a little less than 3 weeks. The best thing about it is that I am able to get traffic without doing much of anything other than setting up the sites to be viewed in the back office just one time... and, of course, letting the ScreenSwarm screen saver run. I've had no problems with crap being downloaded or anything like that. Of course, I have virus protection and spyware protection and I'm pretty anal about keeping all that updated. I'm very happy with my results so far.

just heard it right now.. so if you mean that it is another way to drive traffic then how effective it is?
