In two weeks I will be filming a short commercial for my website. I intend to put it on YouTube and Vineo, and I was hoping that some of you kind folks might be able to give me some suggestions on how to get it as much exposure as possible. With that said, does anybody have any super fly ideas?

How you name the video will be very important. You will want to show up for keyword searches on YouTube. So do some thorough brainstorming of what video related keywords people might use to find your video.

The other major important factor is that the video must be interesting. There has to be something about it that people will want to forward to other people. Ideally the video would be extremely funny. Depending on the topic a very informational video might do better.

You might want to research ways to further promote that video too. Check what backlinks some other related videos have. Perhaps you can get your video featured on the same blogs or websites.

1. Add lotsa porn.
2. Start it out at 20% volume.
3. Halfway through, cut volume up to 100%.
4. More porn.

To increase the amount of views, you can thumbs up the video using StumbleUpon or you could find a StumbleUpon power user to do that for you because their vote will be more powerful.

Also, you can pay to get views at some webmaster forums out there. This might sound shady but it is just to give your video some boost to get off the ground, not that you are going to fund a million views for your video, right?

Honestly, the most important thing is there must be a reason people want to see it. Do you go around looking at meaningless, boring commercials? NO one does :P. BUT many people do get forwards of really funny super bowl commercials or extremely shocking commercials. Either way will be fine.

Thanks to everyone that has replied so far! All of your advice has been very helpful as I try and figure out exactly what I am going to do for the commercial Saturday and how I am going to promote it.

One thing that I know that I am going to do is make it absolutely outrageous! From there, I will use much of the advice that I have received in this forum to hopefully get it viewed approximately 16 billion times. Yes, that is my goal.

Add a nice amount of content in the "more info" section. I have noticed that there are a lot of knockoff websites that love to post the videos and copy the content to their websites.

It used to frustrate me that they were using the things that I had put so much effort into on their sites that were designed to make money with advertisements (CPC). Then I decided that these were just effortless back links to the videos and would generate more traffic to them and to my site because of the annotations that I had included in the videos promoting my website.

So, now I'm good with it all.
