If you want to count the numbers of backlinks then the answer given below to your question is appropriate.

but I guess you are asking, "how to find the place where your backlinks are placed", If i am correct then for this you can online tools that you can find for free in the internet.

if you mean count backlinks, then try the following

1. go to www.yahoo.com
2. type: site:www.yoursite.com

Do it manually by typing in "link:yourdomain.com" in google. You can also use backlinkwatch.com.

You can do all these that people talked about or you can use a nice site we used which is dnscoop.com and you can go there and it tells you your page rank, and your backlinks. It is a very neat program.
