Well.... it had had like 150+ views lol but guess your right aha

chris Ive been told from other sources now that its not even worth bothering with it :|
Apparantly unless your an IE user most your ads wont even really get through and the ones that do are normally the dating ones that have the highest bid rate for impressions :/

They probably spend thousands or something ive got 100 dollars!!! lol dreamer..

Possibly not.

Personally I have no idea, never used Facebook for anything and given due diligence hopefully will never have to

Honestly. I say the same thing. I spent a couple of hundred dollars and got a few leads from it (I got them to opt-in).

If you have a few hundred dollars, spend it on PPC, you'll yield 10 times the effectiveness.

Also, I would like to note. I did hear 1 (yes ONE, just ONE) story that a FB campaign generated 5x more ROI than PPC. Their niche was weddings. Go figure.

So, try it out yourself. But, I wouldn't throw thousands of dollars at it.

*Bonus* LinkedIn is worse than Facebook for ads. I'd say PPC is infinitely more effective than LinkedIn. But that is based off of my experience. Also note that both ads were for the SEO/Internet Marketing crowd.

You've been warned. Spend at your own risk. But if you got the FB credits, spend it.

Certain types of businesses are going to better results on SM sites such as Facebook, simply because they are targeting the right user demographic. Weddings is going to be one of them simply because the predominant age group of Facebook users are more likely to be getting married.

It's just the clueless marketers who think that spamming SM sites will bring untold success or wealth.
Go advertise "electronics gadgets" there and you will have a reasonably good ROI. But if you go and advertise incontinence pads expect to be throwing money away.

All successful marketing and advertising comes down to one basic premise. That is know your audience, without that knowledge, you are peeing into the wind!

Peeing in the wind. Incontinence pads. Lol. Sounds like $hitting advertising. Lol. (I had to say it. Too many connotations).

Great advice Chris. Knowing the audience is key to any marketing campaign, online and offline.

Theres facebook advertising where picture adds with text come up on the right hand side of the page or usually in applications if not nearly every facebook application has advertising, mobwars, poker, hotornot etc etc thats mainly the reason devs build them in the first place so that they can force ads on them as part of the terms of using the app and earn out of it as well on some apps you can complete offers for points or literally buy points with your credit card or phone some devs of really popular apps zynga.com apps must really be rakin it in off these

Theres also group adverting or at least using groups to market a product or products, websites. Ive started a few groups on facebook about a couple of niche's and worked to gain members of it. ideally you want the members that join to invite all there friends and so on and so on. the more you market a group on facebook and the better the topic the more members you can expect and it can grow quite expotentially. In effect you can generate much more leads using facebook groups than you can paying for facebook advertising anyway!
and its free to start a group go figure not to mention can message all members and can generate subscriptions to certain things through it.

i would say if you have your own website and want to promote it a bit more and havent thought of it already then consider using a facebook group to do that.
if you have a certain topic, niche or service or anything you have to offer socialize it with a facebook group to generate more leads and also give people a place to leave more feedback.

I agree with what youre trying to say it does all depend on what you are selling and to who basically and thanks Monkeys for the advice and the puns lol

I used Facebook ads to promote my website (and product) I got quite a few good hits, but the cost of the ads (bidding) seemed far too high for my product.

So unless you are selling a high priced product or service then it is a bit marginal.

Not a big fan of Facebook advertising, the conversions are way too low. I've tried it before but no success. Right now, I only use FB groups to promote my sites. It's much more effective and most of all, it's free.
