hat is the advantage of one way links?
What should I look for when paying for them?

What's the benefit of 2 way links compared to one way?

What should I watch for when buying 1 & 2 way links so I have no issues with google?

1 way links means that the site is linking to you, but your site is not linking back, so that should mean your site has something special to offer, which is (assumingly) why the other site links to you

2 way linking would mean lin k exchange, that has been so heavily abused in the past that google has devalued it strongly

when buying links;
* no site-wide links
*good PR
*anchor text
*last, but not least; don't get caught!! in other words don't buy from a third party/network, don't buy from spammy sites/blogs etc.

One more big advantage of one way links is that they remain active for a longer time. If a website owner link to your site, he/she obviously think that the visitors of his website or even his own website will benefit from it.

In my opinion it is no longer as worthwhile to pursue 2 way links, unless that link will provide decent direct traffic. Spend most of your marketing time building 1 way links instead. These are what will help your rankings the most.

You do have to be careful when buying links. Technically it is against Google's webmaster guidelines. So getting caught can get your website penalized. Just avoid spammy websites and try to pick the websites that are most relevant to your niche. If you buy a link in a 'sponsors' section, that makes it quite clear that it is a paid link. Instead try to get links imbedded in content.

Actually it is not.
In the Google guidelines it is not recommended to buy links for the purpose of manipulating the Google search results.

But links are advertising, and if you want buy advertising then do so, if it also gives a boost to SE results then great, just don't rely on it because at some point the link sellers will be blocked from passing SE value on through links.

The site buying the links will NOT be penalised, but the loss of value from the paid links will very likely affect the "ranking"

I had been trying to find out about that too. I have been working on getting backlinks what seems like months and still don't have anywhere close to enough to be effective. But I can see that I must keep working on it as opposed to buying them as that seems like it could be very short-lived which in the long run won't do me any good. Thanks for the great thread!

But it is important to put links but in key sites, I mean where you can find people that really would need your services, what do you think about it?

as per my knowledge 2 way link is useful to grab more traffic and 1 way back link can help your website to be listed in search engines.i am not sure that 2 way link can help you to be listed in search engines.

As mate says i am agree if you want traffic to your site you can for the two way link exchange. And if you want to get high SERP than go for quality one way backlinks. It will help you to get good SERP. So it is depends upon you which link building you are choosing.

To follow up on Chris' post.

If you are buying links, treat it like advertising, because it is. Buy links with the purpose of getting people to follow them. Actual people coming to your web site will make you more money than just search engines.

To answer one of the questions you asked..

How much should you pay for the link?

Well this varies alot, it really depends on the site you are buying them on. I mean each site is a different page rank, each site receives a different amount of traffic, and some are different niches.

You need to first make sure that your links are on the same niche or related niche to your site, then depending on how much traffic the site gets will determine how much you pay for the link and if you pay monthly or yearly.
