Need help regarding 'linkexchange'

Internet Studio offers web design services for businesses and individuals.

How important can 'linkexchange' be for our website if you look at the type of service I offer? Or is a local approach maybe better in order to find (potential) clients?

If 'linkexchange' is a good tool for us to get traffic, what sort of websites I should change links with? Webhost providers, other design companies, etc.?!

Thanks

Try and exchange links with sites that are similiar (but not direct competition) to yours.

Link exchanges are not directly good for getting traffic unless you are swapping with a high traffic site. But do get lots of links you will get more traffic from search engines for having more back links to your page.

Link exchanges can help you get some traffic directly from sites you exchange links with. However, since you are targetting very competitive keywords, I wouldn't count on traffic from search engines, unless you spend really lots of time in front of your PC.

Reciprocal link exchanges do work quite well. You can/will get your site higher up in the search engines. I would suggest linking with sites simular but not in competition. thats very hard when it comes to website hosting. But this can be done.

Our company’s web design department prefers to target local and regional audiences instead of going after the big phrases. What we have found is that a lot of clients have had previous experience with web designers and are now looking for a new one in there locality so they can deal with a company face to face. We win a vast amount of our business this way.

This also has the added benefit of making it easier to find link exchange partners because you are both targeting different geographical areas and thus exchanging links will not have the potential of losing you business.

The great thing about SEO is that even if you only target a regional phrase like “web design in London” because you are using the keywords “web design” you are still optimising for the bigger term “web design”. After you have reached your desired position for the regional phrase, move onto the next bigger phrase.

By conducting SEO in this fashion you are creating more high positions for your site instead of just targeting one high traffic phrase. What this can mean is when fluctuations are occurring you have more than one phrase being affected and stand a much better chance of picking up steady traffic. When one phrase is being affected badly another may be doing better.
