Is internet marketing and SEO is different? If yes then, what’s the primary difference between them?

I think Internet Marketing is a complete package and Seo is a part of it.
And the main quest is to increase the page traffic.

Internet marketign is simply every method of marketing online.
SEO is search engine optimization, and means marketign your website by making it rank well for certain keywords, on search engines.

Internet Marketing is I guess selling out or marketing out your products by means of selling or promoting them online. While SEO is were you Optimize your site for Search Engines to crawl.

I may be terminologically incorrect, but here's how I see it. Internet marketing (just like the regular marketing) is a set of various measures aimed at promoting a specific product or service. This includes direct advertising, PPC, backlinks and the like. The aim of SEO, on the other hand, is making a site visible in search engines - mostly these are on-site techniques.

That is a means to a goal (and a question). It is also vague. Anybody's site can appear at the top of the results for the right term (most everybody's does if it's specific enough)

Do you really need your site to have high ranks in search engines? Will customers come to your site via search systems? Maybe you advertise your products in your business circles and thus no search optimization is required.

You need to decide yourself what your goal is. After that you will be able to choose the alternatives to proceed with for optimization and marketing.

They're not alternatives, you get customers though marketing and through search engines. If you want to make decent sales then you need to take every opportunity that is available

Internet Marketing is general term for any marketing activity in Internet, including email marketing (SPAM, newsletters), social marketing, classifields, affiliate programs, etc.
SEM (search engine marketing) have two categories: SEO (getting ranked using natural search) and PPC (paying for serach engine visitors).
