I've been reading a lot about setting up a membership site. They seem to be a pretty little investment if you can get one rolling. Instead of dumping all the information all at once and users canceling after 3 months, it would make more sense to implement a drip system, where users get only so much content every week, month, whatever. Or so that's what I read. Does anyone have any opinions on the matter?

If your considering that model I would suggest a pay per content model. Enable visitors to purchase content they want to view. Then offer a monthly subscription providing them a certain amount of credit each month for content.

Creating a membership site can be very lucrative. But it boils down to planning and marketing. Determine first who your target consumers are. You also need visibility.

I've never own such a site before but based on my crude observation, some sites which have things like addictive online games will get people coming back for more. The way I see it, that is somehow lucrative
