Just a quick question,

I have been running sites for awhile now and never gone down the route of paid advertising. Has anyone had success with this method before? If so, with who?

Me.. I always try different types of advertising. Definitely its worth it if you do this correctly. By saying correctly, you have to optimize your site to maximize everything.

OP
There are thousands of websites that use paid advertising.
You could join one of the automated systems like PerformancingAds or BuySellAds.
Or you could advertise in the Marketplace section of this forum.
Or you could put a text block on your website saying you will run ads.

It all comes down to hits, if your website gets lots of hits you will be able to charge more for your ads.
Eg I have found that banner ads can vary from $2 a month to hundreds !

We do.

We advertise on Google with both text and banner ads.

If you have a good product or good service - word of mouth isn't always the best way to earn business. If you have a creative ad that "sells" your product or service and are advertising, you'll earn business much faster. It's all about exposure to as much of your target-market as possible.

You don't need to start with a big budget, you can start advertising on Google with less than $100. Do some testing, work out which ads are working best.

It then comes down to ROI. From your $100, how many sales did you pick up? If your service or product makes you $25 and you made 8 sales ($200), your ROI is 2:1.

If this is consistent, steadily increase your advertising budget. Before you know it, you will be spending $x,xxx + and reaping the benefits.

I've done several types of advertising, paid and organic.
As the post above mine said, start off small and test test test! Then as you make a profit, put that money back in more advertising and build up your campaign.

Paid ads can be very effective if done right. Choose the ones that best suite your website or business, this will make your ads more relevant to potential customers.

I was thinking of trying some ppc clicks as I have tried flat monthly fees and got very few clicks.
I don't mind paying for clicks.

How did you get ripped off ? So that I know what to look out for.

If you are receiving traffic, but not converting, the problem is likely to be down to your landing page. Make sure your key selling points are visible, pricing is visible and more importantly, an order/contact button is highly visible!

In order to increase your earning potential you can use the Affiliate Marketing Programs. I have been using affiliate marketing from past few months and i must say that it is giving me better returns and an easy income. All you need is good internet marketing skills.

Affiliate marketing is a great way to monetize your traffic. Especially if you have a number of different domains.

I have paid for "submit passes" before, it's not directly paying for advertising but you're paying for the privilege of the chance of being accepted.

With an affiliate scheme, your affiliates are (hopefully) actively promoting the products on your behalf to earn a commission on the sales.

Paid advertising is purely a passive method in which you hope to attract purchasers to your products.
