This question is in relation to search engine rankings and backlinks....not traffic flow.

Can someone please tell me what is the point of social bookmarking all your backlinks and perhaps using other programs like backlink booster to supposably boost all your backlinks. If you have just created a backlink to your website that is on a high PR website then what is the real point of linking to that backlink via social bookmarking besides getting traffic to the backlink...?

High PR websites get crawled very frequently anyway and your link would soon be found and indexed very quickly...would it not? What’s the point of social bookmarking a link back to that backlink besides attempting to get that new backlink on the high PR website indexed faster...?

And if that’s the only reason, why bother submitting that backlink to 100 different social bookmarking sites. As soon as Google crawled a high PR bookmarking site like Digg etc, would it not find, recognize and index your new backlink. What difference would it make if Google finds the same reference to that same backlink two seconds later on another social bookmarking site...?

The original backlink gets its authority and value from the website it is placed on...does it not? What difference does it make if 100 social bookmark links point back to that backlink. Does it boost that backlinks authority or value...?

Using a hypothetical analysis, let’s say I put a backlink on a PR10 website. Because it’s on a PR10 website let’s say that backlink is now worth 10 authority points (link juice value). If 100 social bookmarking sites link to that backlink does it increase the authority of this backlink whatsoever...? And ultimately would it increase my search engine rank.

I can handle creating backlinks on good websites and actually participating in their forums, but social bookmarking all the backlinks I create is the painful part, no matter how automated the process is. And what is the point if ultimately it doesn’t boost my search engine rank...?

I can understand that more traffic to the backlink can be generated via bookmarking, but I’m purely interested in the original backlinks potency and if it is increased whatsoever via social bookmarking...

Thanks in advance guys...

Best thing you could possibly do is to totally forget all that junk and start again learning something useful.

As far as I know it was not the original purpose of social bookmarking until seo came. Oh well I might be wrong with this understanding.

Yep! You are wrong.

SEO has been around since around 1993. "Social bookmarking" for links is simply a creation of the MFA site junk posters.

All that junk is what gets my websites on the first page of search engines...Is there something more useful I could learn...perhaps you can enlighten me...? Do you know of a secret method that gets websites ranked higher...?

Websites loaded with quality content still don't rank without backlinks or so I've been told...Any suggestions as to what you may be hinting at when you say 'something more useful'...?

You been told wrong then...!

I have a site that I have NEVER asked, emailed or requested for a link from ANYWHERE!

Last year It had around 10 or so links, now it has around 40 and appears 1st On most search engines for VERY competitive keywords.

The "secret" answer to this is that the site has Useful info, that users want to read... they then share the link to this site to others - gaining backlinks naturally...

Not by spamming forums, blogs, directorys etc.

Let me try to answer by ignoring social bookmarking sites completely.

Say someone writes an article that mentions you, recommends your services, and links to your site. Forgetting search engines for a moment, if no one ever sees that article then no one sees the recommendation, the link, etc. If on the other hand hundreds of thousands of people read that article, then you probably will have some new business.

In that case wouldn't it make sense for you to promote that article? You could work to drive traffic to that article, which subsequently then drives traffic and clients back to you.

What's described above is not that much different than what might happen when we do look at search engines. A search engine determines some value to the article and consequently determines some value to any link in that article. If you can work to increase the value of that article in the eyes of a search engine (say by linking to it more) then the link on that page pointing back to your site most likely increases in value as well.

The basic theory is that you can not only work to make your own pages more valuable, but work to make those pages that link to your pages more valuable and as a result those more valuable pages are now passing more value back to you.

That's a really, really complicated question. I'll try and get to what I think your basic question is, why do we socially bookmark our backlinks?

The theory is that it makes the pages they are hosted on more valuable, so therefore the backlink itself would be more valuable.

If you're using an automated program, of which there are many, such as OnlyWire, I don't see a reason not to bookmark. There isn't a downside.

Social Bookmarking is a relatively easy way to increase the backlinks to your sites. Reaching out to more and more people on the web was the basic intention of using Social Bookmarking sites. But gradually this became the easiest source for SEO guys.

If you seriously want to increase your backlinks i would suggest that Affiliate Marketing is a better option than Social Bookmarking. You can cater potential customers to your website more easily through posting your backlinks on Affiliate sites.

Probably i will be the only person to say this, but yes thats what i feel.

I can't give any better tip or help then that. have your time spent with some quality work & try to do some link bait or press release whenver you have anything special.
