Hi all, I have been using Craigslist to advertise a dating site and it has 300 ppl in one week! But it's kinda spread out, meaning, ppl from all over the states: OR, PA, VT, RI, MA, UT like that....

Is this a good marketing strategy or any suggestions? It's getting slow now getting member from Craigslist but I dont want to expand to another state because then I will keep getting more users in other states again. What your guys thought on this matter?

Why? Don't people date other people from other states?

LOL because it's getting spreadout... so say Idaho state people come to the site and there are not many ppl there.. so they will log out quickly. Know what i Mean?

Hi,

You could concentrate on marketing your site to a single state first and then spread out to other states one by one. This way your existing user will always have other members who live relatively close to each other. (If this is a problem)

I also think you should expand your marketing beyond just Craigslist. Right now you appear to be limiting yourself to just one avenue.

Yeah we are thinking about the same about focus on a few states to get members first, but then our CL ad got flagged in those states lol... so hardly got any new members to sign up if they get flagged like that. I hate to limit myself to just CL, but it appears that only CL that draw more ppl to my site. Anything else I should try?

It takes a long time to get a dating site established, you just have to keep working at it and promote it as much as you can. you will get balance sooner or later.

Promoting a dating website on forums and social networks is the best way to add valuable visitors to it.
