I am coming out with a training dvd related to sports and am wondering if you guys had any good ideas to find some solid affiliates for my product launch?

Lots of Good info here.

The best affiliate programs are the ones that you own and manage. If you have a product or service that you produce (or can acquire at wholesale pricing with terms) and spend a few hundred bucks for a reliable affiliate program, you will discover that your work time is severely reduced and your margins are comfortable.

Yea of course getting into affiliate networks is a big one.

But the biggest thing that you can do to get affiliates is:

1) Have a great product - a product that actually works and helps people. Make sure your content is top notch.

2) Test, test, test, test, and retest and tweak, tweak, tweak, tweak, and retweak sales conversions before you start promoting the affiliate program. Spend a LOT of time on this, as you want to get conversions as high as possible before letting affiliates know about it. If your product has super high conversions, affiliates will come to you naturally.

3) Prep a big launch so that your product gets a lot of buzz. When you do this in somewhere like CLickbank your product will climb to the top of the product searches and affiliates will again naturally come to you.

This is how you get a mountain of affiliates.

you may make affiliation with some personal reference and let them be strong affiliates. in this way your affiliate rankings will improve and other affiliates will be attracted to your product... while you need to be careful for the price and commissions being offered, the higher the price, the higher the commission and the higher the conversions, affiliates will love your product.

Well I'm a full time affiliate. I'd say the best way to pitch a product to us would be:

1. Get an affiliate network to take you on board (Clickbank is the best option for small product launches).

2. Scout out your direct competition, reverse-trace any affiliate programs that they may have in use, track down where the traffic is coming from and email the webmasters of the affiliate sites promising to beat the payout on the rival site.

3. Have an awesome product that sells itself to make our life as easy as possible.

Many of the serious affiliates focus on promoting offers that have a recurring commission plan.

As example, webhosting accounts, where the affiliate earns a bit every month the buyer keeps the hosting account, which could go on for years.

I've known a very serious affiliate for over ten years, and recurring income is always his focus. Or was, until he retired on the recurring commissions.

The relevant affiliate products are the most important. You have to find an quality and related article to your overall site niche if you want to successfully boost your lead or sales through your unique affiliate links.

I would recommend targeting websites that are relevant to your niche,and to contact them by phone. Although your goal is to market on sites that are closely related to sports, in the beginning it may be a good idea to consider recruiting sites that are also tangentially related.
