ROFLMAO @ ChrisHirst. Yeah... The question is not a great one. It's like trying to compare MySpace with Twitter. They each have totally different purposes... and target different demographics.
While ALL social networks can be used for business, "how" you use them, the traffic you'll attract, and their effectiveness can be quite different.
@OP... IMO LinkedIn I use to make business contacts. It provides a way for me to post essentially a resume online for others to see. I can find people with certain skillsets and make contacts online. It's MUCH more business oriented.
Facebook on the other hand is more personal. It provides a way for me to keep up with friends and make new friends. Yes. It "can" be used effectively for promoting businesses by creating fan pages and posting interesting information that will attract more fans. But 99.999% of what goes on within Facebook has nothing to do with business and is mainly people shooting the s*#@ by posting stupid statuses like "Sitting in the doctor's office waiting on a colonoscopy!" as if people REALLY care.
