Basically, your focus with twitter should be giving a personal appeal to whatever your twitter profile is for. If it's for a company, then don't tweet as the company, tweet as a representative of that company. My point was, people want to get to know people, not the corporate image they hide behind.
With this, people will get (hopefully) more involved with you, and your co-workers, etc.. And in doing so, you can attract new clients, which is where you'll make your money.
