But if a site doesn't sell anything or commercial in any way, why does traffic matter.
It makes no difference whether the pages are seen by one person a year or ten thousand a day. So why do you bother?
Are you that bored you have to spend your time in pursuit of nothing?
Do you feel a need to have your egos massaged by people visiting your site and doing nothing at all?
For the majority, it isn't as if you learn anything by what you do. You simply follow the masses, scared to do something different because you might get "penalised". What does it matter if you do? You won't loose anything, because your sites does nothing anyway. So many are the same valueless, mass produced, non-entities regurgitating the same crud you can find in a thousand other places, the McDonalds of the Internet, flavourless plastic, masquerading as sustenance.
If your sites had any substance or value, You would not need to be chasing the bored masses at Twitter, or the equally bored and aimless inhabitants of Facebook. You would be able to promote them to the right audience and they would continue the process
