Sorry to say, The link on social media sites will not count as link in search engine because most of popular social media sites are no-follow & Google gives importance to do-follow link only.

Through Social media site you can do advertisement of your site but it is not helpful for increasing your keyword ranking in search engine. There are some technique for making proper advertisement in social media sites like you can submit article in any article site related to your site subject & add your link in article. & then this article URL you can post in Social Media site.

This is just a example there are so many other technique also which is used by many people. You can find most favorable technique form Google also.
