As you can see, I am not a website expert, but rather, someone who's crafty with dreamweaver and moderate css/php and design knowledge. My coding isn't always the best, and rarely am I compliant with standards. Therefore, my prices reflect that! I charge alot lower than my competitors on craigslist, but it's still alot of money to me (only being 17 years old). All of my customers end up satisfied, and I earn a relatively good paycheck for only a few hours on my computer.

Soooo, with that said, what are some good ways to advertise? I only get a few jobs a month, which is awful! Look at the math: if I charge $180 for a website that takes me 3.5 hours to complete, and I have 8 websites to manage, working 30 min a day for each (~4 hours a day workload), that's an astonishing $1440 for ONE WEEK of work. Incredible. I can't even imagine that. But if I get the clientele, I can make that! So how do I find customers? Where's the best place to advertise? I am willing to spend money!

try various freelance sites to get some work going although be prepared to be out bidded by a bunch of blokes from India, Pakistan, China etc

you could also try building some themes for popular CMS' and use it as a passive income if you do alright with it you can get a bit of cash on the side coming in without putting in much work (except for patches and development)

You can do free work for local charities, churches, organizations, etc and ask them to refer people to your should the topic come up. Mouth to mouth advertising is still the most effective.

A good portofolio is the key to impres and maybe to work with more clients.

Build a brand called "Victor Bareno" and remember at all times your representing that brand. Do good work and people will recommend you to other people. Your websites nice but the thing that bugs me is the "Web SVC" link. It's such an awkward link.

Also, try learning more languages like "PHP" and "Javascript." Though, Javascript is garbage and is only good for client side form validation, image swaps, and some simple client side programming.

I admire your enthusiasm Victor but you will quickly find out how much work is really in a web site of any kind. Your prices will not hold up after a few hundred of...

"will you please move that text up a little?"
"the line at the bottom of the page needs to be a hair wider"
"the font looks too small on my laptop, can you make it bigger for laptops?"
"i decided i need to use a different image in the header, do you mind adding this image? it won't cost me any more will it?"
"how come this page looks funny on my brothers computer?...he uses IE6"

try rent a coder and similar sites, I use to do a lot of work there , and would make a few k a month on there site. Ive built a pretty large clientèle now, and don't really need to bid on jobs anymore, but it would be great for someone starting out, looking for job.

Don't underbid yourself, I use to do that, bid accordingly, dont use the same bid for everyone, read what the customer wants, and write a proposal geared for them, and I guarantee you will get more work than you know what to do with.

Posting in the correct forum is always a good starting point to get the right answers.

And three hours is not a lot of time to wait for an answer to a somewhat waffling and confusing post.
