Hi Guys, I was thinking of sharing some of my templates for free but with my link in the footer of the templates. Now my question is will that help me in my SEO efforts or will it do the opposite?

Are you talking about the signature link? If yes so signature links always help in SEO.

I guess so, not like here on the forums, but something like: Mashala theme was created and Designed by Vip Consult.

Where Vip Consult is the anchor text for the link back to my site!

I think the link helps for sure. We have this kind links in our applications and the result is very good.

Also, you may consider putting your product category name, rather than your company name "VIP Consult", as the anchor text.

That helps. If your link will remain there and the site that makes use of your template will have a good traffic later, your link will get more exposure.
